Awards, Presentation and AGM- Committee Positions

On behalf of the committee, I sincerely hope that all our members and families are safe, healthy in mind and body and are adapting to much more time spent at home.

A quick update on what we are doing as a club in regards to Awards, Presentation , and our AGM.

Due to current conditions, our presentation is postponed to just prior to the start of next season (DTBA). In the meantime, once we finalise all award winners and special recognition categories, we will publish online on our facebook page and website (Update 17/5/2020): we have had some issues finalising results (missing members in the results database which we are working with timing solutions to work out) please bear with us. Trophies and other awards/ recognitions will be available at the presentation. We may request photos that we may use (with parent/guardian permission) for this online publication.

Our AGM is also postponed indefinitely, at this stage until at least late June/ early July. The current committee will hold their positions until this time. We are calling on all interested parties to submit applications to be part of our open and friendly committee. All positions are open. For information, on positions, please go to:

click here for details and committee position descriptions

Nominations close 4/6/2020 at 4pm.

Note: All positions are open. If we do not receive at least one nomination for all executive positions and at least one nomination for Rank and Recording, Uniform, Coaching and Championship Officer, unfortunately we will not be able to continue on for the 2020/21 season.

In season 2019/20, we had a number of new committee members join who have injected some new life into the club, they really just need a few more like minded individuals in order to make the club run well and be the best that we can be, we were a little short in number. Please seriously consider, if we can not form a committee , we can not form a club.

I will also take this opportunity to announce that I will not be standing as President for the 2020/21 season. It truly has been a rewarding experience, but am at the end of my useful contribution. I will not lie, it is a challenging position. I will be available, a long with a couple of older more experienced members to help with handover and advice.

Stay Well!

Michael Pickering

The club was formed  in 2008 through the amalgamation of two Athletics clubs that were based out of the Hunter Sports Centre facility (Macquarie Shores and Hunter Track & Field)

Our club focuses on the full spectrum of abilities and interests from AWD Athletes, Social athletes, Club competitors, Amateur representatives through to Professional Athletes.

Throughout the Track and Field Season (September – March) on a weekly basis we run: club carnival on Friday Nights from 530pm, AWD events commencing approx 9-1030am on Saturdays & Wednesday night training 5:30pm – 7:30pm.

Friday Night carnivals will have 4 events for the younger groups and 5+ for the older age groups (u13 +).

We hope to make this year a memorable one for the Club both on and off the Track, keeping the philosophy of “Bringing Out The Best In All Athletes” and incorporating the committee’s vision of “Making Athletics a Fun Social Event for the Whole Family”.

We will be running graded events (fo u13s and up)  in addtion to the normal Little As age events on our Friday night carnivals and senior athletes will also be welcome to join our u/17s programmed events.

Our club will be intending to build up our group of coaches to help “bring out your best” in athletics

FREE “On-Track” training access is available for non- Seniors during the athletics season on Wednesday’s starting at 5.30pm and finishing at 7.30pm. Coaching assistance will be provided when available. The club has many wonderful volunteers who do a magnificent job. However, we need more people assisting.  So feel free to put your hand up to assist. We all have to start somewhere.

To all our athletes and parents, we wish you a very happy, healthy and fun athletics season that will hopefully bring out the best in you and we encourage all to embrace the sportsmanship and friendship the club has to offer this season.

Have a great 2019-2020 season!
