Timing Issues – Track Events upto 400m
A major issue has been recently discovered with our timing system. There was a problem with the WIFI connection and the transmitter on the starting gun. This has affected all events up to 400m conducted on the first 4 weeks of our Friday night carnivals. This has resulted in times recorded that are, in many cases, much faster than what they should be. The problem was completely rectified prior to week 5 by replacing the transmitter, calibrating and a full test of the system by timing equipment experts. If we do nothing with the first 4 weeks results (up to 400m) it will be almost impossible for many to set new PBs, our club places a high value on improving through the season. In consideration of this and the uncertainty of  results, the committee has decided that the 1st 4 weeks results for all track events up to 400m are to be made unavailable. PBs will be from week 5 onwards for these events. Many thanks to those club members who provided feedback to the committee on the timing problem over the first few weeks and for your patience while the issue was resolved. The committee  looks forward to many PB achievements from all of our athletes for the rest of the Season.
Important Safety Notes:
Shotput : We need to look out for proper technique, lots of fouls being thrown, we will try to get a few more experience parents to assist at these events and a brief discussion with all Age Controller volunteers at Start of the night
Javelin : Athletes should not be retrieveing Javelins, this needs to be more controlled to avoid tragic consequences
Running on inside of Track: No running on the inside of the track following athlete competing.
Crossing the Field: Please comply with moving around the outside of the track to your next event.
Some Notes from 1st few Weeks:

Thankyou to all parents who have put the hand up to be Age Controllers thus far and for those many assisting at the events. The start of the season is always a little hectic with a number of new parents to Athletics, Athletics is a very volunteer orientated sport, this is what keeps registration fees down so low. I take this opportunity to remind all to review the information in each of the age controller folders for reference and to see one of the committee for assistance if having difficulties. Main feedback I have is for marshalling for track events: please marshal at the outside of the track, this avoids accidentally walking out on races run in lanes 1 and 2 and keeps you out of the sightline between starter and finish line timing. Hope you are enjoying thus far and hope to see you all this week.
